It can be a real challange to drill into tiling without cracking or chipping the tile itself. But if you choose the right tools, and take it slowly, you can get it just right. The first thing to consider is what tile you have. Once you know the material your tiles are made of, you can choose the right drill bit for the job.

With the right tile drill bit, you’ll be able to drill into ceramic without cracking it. Standard drill bits won’t work, but ceramic tile can be drilled with a carbide bit, and glass or porcelain with a diamond bit. If you are still unsure of what tile you have, or intend to drill multiple thorugh types, buy the diamond bit, as it works on any tile.

Now you can begin by drilling very slowly, and as the hole gets deeper, you can increase the drill speed with a steady pressure.
